On 4th September 2025, the Embassy, led by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Andrew Karanja, held a meeting with the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of Goiás (FecomércioGO) in Goiânia, State of Goiás. The meeting focused on strengthening strategic partnerships with FecomércioGO to leverage opportunities for cooperation with the State of Goiás in the trade of goods, services, and tourism.
It was proposed that key areas of collaboration would include agricultural processing and agribusiness, in line with the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Crops and Livestock Development between Kenya and Brazil.
Additionally, discussions focused on trade promotion and investment opportunities across diverse economic sectors such as green and renewable energy, technology, and tourism, including knowledge sharing through institutional partnerships.
It was agreed that joint programs and initiatives with FecomércioGO such as business missions, webinars, roundtables, conferences, trade fairs, and bilateral meetings between buyers and sellers from Goiás and Kenya will play a key role in positioning Kenya as a regional hub for Brazilian investment. This will also provide preferential access to the East African Community (EAC), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
