The Embassy led by H.E Ambassador Dr. Andrew Karanja spearheaded the convening of the virtual meeting between Nairobi City County and the City of São Paulo held on 2nd July 2025.
The discussions centered on the proposal to establish a City-to-City Twinning Partnership between Nairobi and São Paulo that will focus on collaborative efforts in key socio-economic matters of interest aimed at deepening the diplomatic and bilateral relations between Kenya and Brazil . The Nairobi City County was represented by Mr. Daniel Ngari, Director for Youth Affairs while the City of São Paulo was represented by Mr. Bernardo de Augusto Santos de Faria, Advisor to the Municipal Secretariat of International Relations. Also present were representatives from other key Governamental institutions including the Embassy of Brazil in Nairobi, State Department for Trade, State Department for Foreign Affairs and the State Department of Culture, the Arts and Heritage.
It is envisioned that the partnership between the two cities will provide an avenue to address mutual urban challenges while leveraging the existing socio-economic opportunities through a sub-national collaboration framework in alignment to the aspirations of the South-South Multinational Cooperation Agenda.
