Landmark Achievement as KEPROBA and ApexBrasil Sign a Memorandum of Understanding during the High-Level Brazil-Africa Seminar 2026 at the Itamaraty Place, Brasilia, Brazil.

On 25th May 2026, a major milestone was achieved in advancing Kenya-Brazil Commercial and Economic Diplomacy as the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the High-Level Brazil-Africa Seminar 2026, held at the Itamaraty Palace, in Brasília, Brazil.

The MoU was signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KEPROBA, Ms. Floice Mukabana, and the President of ApexBrasil, Mr. Laudemir André Müller, in the presence of Diplomatic Corps, the African Group of Ambassadors and Heads of Mission, Senior Government Officials, private sector representatives, and other distinguished stakeholders from Brazil and Africa attending the High-Level Seminar focused on strengthening diplomatic relations between Brazil and the African continent.

The Brazil-Africa Seminar, organized annually by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in commemoration of Africa Day, served as an important platform for strengthening political, economic, and cultural relations through dialogue, while advancing South–South Cooperation in key areas including; science, technology, economic development, innovation, and people-centred partnerships. This year’s High-Level Seminar held under the theme “Partnerships In Motion – New Fronts For Action”, was graced by H.E. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who hosted a luncheon in honour of the African Group of Ambassadors and Heads of Mission, reaffirming Brazil’s strong commitment to deepening strategic engagement with Africa.

Speaking during the MoU Signing Ceremony at the Seminar, the CEO of KEPROBA highlighted that the Instrument of Cooperation would provide a structured framework for Export promotion program development, Value chain-based collaboration, Trade and investment facilitation, Agribusiness and Livestock Development as well as Capacity building. It was outlined that a results-driven partnership with measurable impact would result to scalable export promotion.

The President of ApexBrasil reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to deepening trade and investments, emphasizing on the importance of addressing emerging global challenges such as food security, energy transition, and the application of Artificial Intelligence in economic development. He further underscored the immense untapped potential for enhanced trade and technology transfer between Brazil and Kenya, noting that the partnership forms part of ApexBrasil’s broader strategy of strengthening economic cooperation with African countries through practical and sustainable initiatives.

The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Brasília, led by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Andrew Karanja, played a key role in facilitating the partnership and engagements leading to the signing of the MoU and remains committed to supporting increased trade flows, and stronger partnerships between institutions and businesses between Kenya and Brazil. On the side-lines of the Brazil-Africa Seminar, the CEO also had several bilateral meetings with key Brazilian Government officials, business executives, development partners, and members of the Diplomatic Corps from the African Group of Ambassadors and Heads of Mission.

This landmark achievement has significantly elevated Kenya’s profile in Brazil and further reinforced Kenya’s strategic position as a key gateway for trade, investment, innovation, and economic partnerships in Africa.
