Visa requirements

VISA REQUIREMENTS

The attention of all applicants for visas should be drawn to immigration requirements set out below:

  1. PASSPORTS
  2. Valid passports or other travel documents including Seaman’s Discharge Book, acceptable to the Government of Kenya are required for all persons wishing to enter Kenya,
  3. Passports must be valid for at least Six (6) Months,

iii.            Passports must have a clean and a full visa page for endorsement.

 

  1. PERMITS OR PASSES

Subject to the exemptions mentioned below, an immigration pass or permit is required by all persons, other than Kenya citizens wishing to enter Kenya.

 

  1. EXEMPTIONS

Exemptions from permits are granted to all persons who are entitled to privileges and immunities under The Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011 under section 34 (3) (a) to (g) laws of Kenya.

 

  1. VISITORS

A bona fide visitor may be issued with a visitor’s pass on arrival at a port of entry into Kenya valid for a period not exceeding three months in the first instance provided that he is in possession of a valid passport or other travel document acceptable to the Government of Kenya, has a valid visa where required, is in possession of sufficient funds for subsistence while in Kenya and a return, or onward ticket to his country of origin, domicile or destination.

Nationals of East African Partner States holding valid passports and other acceptable travel documents may be issued with a visitor’s pass on arrival at a port of entry into Kenya valid for Six Months.

Travellers entering Kenya by road are advised to pass through the gazetted entry points and report immediately to an Immigration Officer.

 

GUIDELINES FOR VISA APPLICATIONS

 

SINGLE JOURNEY VISAS (SJV)

Requirements,

Ø   Two visa application forms V.I to be duly filled, signed and dated.

Ø   Two copies of an Invitation letter/ Cover letter from the applicant.

Ø   Two copies of identity card if host is Kenyan.

Ø  Two copies of valid residential work permit if host is a foreigner.

Ø  Two copies of marriage certificate if visiting spouse.

Ø  Two passport size photographs of the applicant.

Ø  Two copies of valid Passport/travel document of the applicants Bio data page and page showing validity of at least six months.

Ø   Two copies of medical referral letter from a hospital or a doctor for medical cases.

Ø   Two copies of applicants residential/work permit if not residing in their country.

Ø  Visa Fees is USD 50 or R$ 100

 

SINGLE JOURNEY VISA APPLICATION FROM COMPANIES/ORGANISATIONS

Requirements,

Ø   Two visa application forms V.I to be duly filled, signed and dated.

Ø   Two copies of valid Passport with a validity of at least six months.

Ø   Two passport size photographs of the applicant.

Ø   Cover letters to be on company/organization’s letterheads.

Ø   Should specify the reason for applicant’s visit.

Ø   Specify proposed date of entry and duration of stay.

Ø   Show connection between applicant and the company/organization.

Ø  The letter should have the name and signature of

the person countersigning it.

Ø   Visa Fees is USD 50 or R$ 100

 

MULTIPLE JOURNEY VISAS (MJV)

Requirements,

Ø   Two visa application forms V.I to be duly filled, signed and dated.

Ø   Two passport size photographs of the applicant.

Ø  Two copies of a Cover letter from the applicant detailing the need for an MJV.

Ø   Copies of previous visas.

Ø   Applicants applying for multiple journey Visa’s to visit their spouses should avail in addition to the above, the following:

Ø   Their spouses National identity Card if Kenyan

Ø   Residential/Work permit if spouse is a foreigner

Ø   Copy of marriage certificate

Ø   Parents applying for Multiple journey Visa’s to Kenya to visit their children in schools should avail copies of valid pupil’s passes and copies of Valid residential permits in their countries of residence

Ø   Fee is USD 100 or R$ 200

 

MULTIPLE JOURNEY VISA APPLICATION FROM COMPANIES/ORGANISATIONS

Requirements,

Ø   Two visa application forms V.I to be duly filled, signed and dated.

Ø   Two passport size photographs of the applicant

Ø   Copies of previous visas

Ø   Two copies of a cover letter bearing the company/organization’s letterheads

Ø   Should specify the reason for applicant’s frequent visits

Ø   Show connection between applicant and the company/organization

Ø   The letter should have the name and signature of the person countersigning it.

Ø   Two copies of applicant’s resident permit if not residing in their country.

Ø   Fee is USD 100 or R$ 200

 

TRANSIT VISAS

Requirements,

Ø   Two visa application forms V.I to be duly filled, signed and dated.

Ø   Two passport size photographs of the applicant.

Ø   Two copies of valid Passport/travel document with a validity of at least six months.

Ø   Copies of onward ticket/itinerary to a third destination.

Ø    Transit Visa Fee is USD 20 or R$ 40.

 

PROCESSING OF VISAS

Ø  Normal Issuance – 3 working days

Ø  Express issuance – 1 working day – extra USD 10 or R$ 20

 

CONSULAR SECTION WORKING HOURS

Ø  Monday to Thursday – 9:30am to 12:45pm and 2:00pm to 3:30pm

Ø  Fridays – 9:30am to 12:45pm and 2:00pm to 3:00pm

E-VISA

From 1st September 2015, visa application to Kenya goes online. All 

applications will be made via https://ecitizen.go.ke/. Brazilian nationals who require visas to enter Kenya can now apply for their e-visa via this website.

HOW TO APPLY FOR KENYAN EVISA

1. Go to www.evisa.go.ke ad click on create eVisa Account.

2. Once Logged in, Select Department of Immigration Services.

3. Select submit Application.

4. Select Kenyan Visa.

5. Select the type of Visa and read the Instructions Carefully

6. Fill in the Application form.

7. Pay using Visa card, Mastercard and other debit cards.

8. Await approval via email, then download and print the eVisa from your eCitizen account.

9. Present your printed eVisa to the immigration officer at the port of  entry.

POINTS TO NOTE 

1. Visa processing fee is non refundable.

2. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

3. The possession of an eVisa is not the final Authority to enter the Republic of Kenya

4. Engaging in any form of business or employment without a requisite permit or pass is an offence.

5. A visa is required prior to entry into the Republic of Kenya.

6. The eVisa printout must be presented at the port of entry.
