VISIT TO BRAZIL BY PRIME CABINET SECRETARY H.E. HON. MUSALIA MUDAVADI – 29TH DECEMBER, 2022 TO 2ND JANUARY, 2023

Prime Cabinet Secretary H.E. Hon. Musalia Mudavadi represented H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, PhD and the Government of the Republic of Kenya at the Swearing-In-Ceremony of H.E. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the newly elected President of the Federative Republic of Brazil which took place on 1st January, 2023.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by H.E. Ambassador Lemarron Kaanto.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary was also accompanied on his visit to Brazil by his wife Tessie Mudavadi.

On the margins of the ceremony, the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Mrs. Mudavadi toured the Juscelino Kubitscheck Memorial Museum which was opened in memory of the founder of Brasilia, President Juscelino Kubitscheck, on September 12th, 1981.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary also visited the Kenya Embassy where he was briefed on the Mission’s mandate and the status of Kenya – Brazil relations.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary later engaged with representatives of the Kenyan Diaspora in Brazil and assured them of the Government’s commitment to enhancing service delivery.

Finally, the Prime Cabinet Secretary planted trees at the Sarah Kubitschek City Park, named in honour of the former First Lady (1956-1961) and wife to former President Juscelino Kubitschek. The City Park is one of the largest urban parks in the world, with an area of 4.2 square kilometres.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary was honoured by the Government of the Federal District of Brazil to plant a commemorative tree at the park. This is in line with the partnership between the Embassy and the Government of the Federal District of Brazil aimed at enhancing awareness of climate change and sustainability through tree planting
