Virtual Meeting between the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) and the Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber (CCEE) of Brazil on Cooperation in Electric Energy.

The meeting followed the initial engagement between EPRA and CCEE during EPRA’s official institutional visit to CCEE in São Paulo on 25th March 2026, where both institutions underscored the importance of establishing a long-term partnership, with CCEE reaffirming its strong interest in collaborating with Kenya.

Institutional remarks and a presentation on behalf of EPRA were delivered by Dr. John Mutua, Director of Economic Regulations, and Mr. Newtone Munyolo, Manager for Pricing, Tariffs and Competition, respectively. A detailed technical presentation was also made by Mr. Daniel Gomes of CCEE.

The deliberations covered the strengthening of the proposed partnership between both institutions across a broad range of areas, including peer-to-peer in-person learning and training programmes for EPRA staff at the CCEE Academy in Brazil, a proposed business mission to Kenya by CCEE, and enhanced bilateral cooperation in the electric energy sector.

It is envisioned that the proposed partnership will strengthen the Kenya–Brazil Green Energy Partnership through enhanced institutional cooperation and facilitate knowledge exchange in areas such as electric energy regulation, pricing mechanisms, market operations, energy commercialization, and capacity building, among other areas of mutual interest.
