The Embassy participates in the 18th General Assembly and 15th International Seminar of the Group of International Cooperation of Brazilian Universities (GCUB) in Recife.

The Embassy, led by Amb. Peris Kariuki, Deputy Head of Mission, participated in the 18th General Assembly and 15th International Seminar of the Group of International Cooperation of Brazilian Universities (GCUB), held in Recife, Pernambuco, from 30th to 3rd October, 2025.

The Embassy’s delegation participated alongside representatives from more than 100 universities, government officials, and international organizations in discussions pertaining to the future of higher education, scientific collaboration, and sustainable development.

Among the attendees was Ms. Caroline Adala Oremo, Capacity Building Officer at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), Kenya.

The Assembly, hosted by the University of Pernambuco (UPE) in collaboration with GCUB, offered a strategic platform to facilitate academic exchange and dialogue on topics such as democracy, geopolitics, and international university collaboration, fostering connections for peace and global sustainability. During the event, the Kenyan delegation interacted with prominent academic leaders to explore potential partnership opportunities between Kenyan and Brazilian institutions, with a particular focus on innovation, science, and higher education exchange.

These discussions reinforced Kenya’s commitment to promoting South–South cooperation in education and research, aligning with the country’s long-term development and internationalization objectives.
