Technical Cooperation Meeting Between the Brazilian Zebu Breeders Association (ABCZ) and Kenyan Livestock Sector Stakeholders

On 22nd October 2025, the Embassy convened a virtual Technical Cooperation Meeting between the Brazilian Zebu Breeders Association (ABCZ) and key Kenyan stakeholders in the livestock sector.

The meeting aimed to explore avenues for technical collaboration between ABCZ and Kenya in areas such as animal genetics improvement, animal nutrition, and knowledge exchange, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Crops and Livestock Development signed earlier in the year between Kenya and Brazil.

Kenyan participants included representatives from both the public and private sectors; notably the State Department for Livestock, State Department for Trade, State Department for Foreign Affairs, Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), Kenya Agriculture and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC), Kenya Animal Genetics Resource Centre (KAGRC), Agriculture Sector Network (ASNET), and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI).

The Brazilian delegation, led by Ms. Raquel Borges, Cattle Manager at ABCZ, comprised representatives from companies engaged in genetics (embryo and semen), pasture seeds, animal health, dairy farming, and veterinary products, among other technical areas.

It is anticipated that this partnership will enhance livestock productivity, foster technology transfer, and strengthen economic cooperation between Kenya and Brazil, in line with the objectives of the Multilateral South-South Cooperation Framework.
