Strengthening Global Partnerships in Livestock Development with Brazil during the Livestock Trade Mission organized by the Brazilian Zebu Breeders Association (ABCZ)

Hon. Jonathan Mueke, CBS, Principal Secretary for Livestock Development is leading a Kenyan delegation of twenty two (22) officials from both the public and private sectors, in undertaking a Strategic Livestock Trade Mission to Brazil.

This initiative is a key step towards the transforming Kenya’s livestock sector through global collaboration. The mission brings together industry players to explore cutting-edge innovations in genetics, breeding, animal health, pasture management, and value addition, while also engaging with world-class research institutions and leading agribusinesses.

The engagement underscores Kenya’s commitment to commercializing livestock, improving productivity, and positioning the Kenyan farmers for global markets.

The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Brasilia has been facilitating the ongoing Mission, whose objective is to equip the participants with in-depth knowledge of Brazilian beef and dairy production systems, while fostering direct partnerships with Brazilian institutions towards technology transfer in the livestock and broader agribusiness sectors.

It is envisioned that Kenya and Brazil will establish a Joint Livestock Project and ABCZ is expected to undertake a Reciprocal Business Mission to Kenya in June 2026, further strengthening the partnership.
