On 27th March, 2026, The Kenya Embassy in Brasília, led by Mrs. Mary C. Kirui, hosted a delegation from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) headed by Director General Daniel Kiptoo Bargoria. The group is visiting Brazil from 22nd to 29th March 2026 to strengthen Kenya-Brazil energy sector relations.
The Embassy coordinated and facilitated key engagements during the delegation’s visit, supporting trade, investment, energy cooperation, Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), technical partnerships, and capacity building. The Mission ensured that meetings, visits, and negotiations were efficiently organized to achieve results for Kenya.
During the visit, EPRA and Brazil’s ANEEL signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Green Energy Partnership, paving the way for regulatory cooperation and technical collaboration. The delegation also met with several energy agencies and companies, gaining valuable insights into Brazil’s energy frameworks, renewable models, petroleum governance, and electricity markets—knowledge that is relevant to Kenya’s energy transformation efforts.
Director General Bargoria extended his appreciation to the Embassy for its effective facilitation, acknowledging that the success of the visit was largely attributed to the Embassy’s proactive coordination and consistent support. Charge D’affaires Mrs. Kirui reiterated the Embassy’s dedication to sustained engagement regarding follow-up and implementation of the agreed deliverables. She highlighted that such collaborations are essential to furthering Kenya’s BETA agenda, which is committed to inclusive economic growth, expanding energy access, and fostering strategic international partnerships that benefit Kenyans at the grassroots level.
This visit furthers Kenya Embassy Brasília’s aim to promote Kenya as a strategic energy partner and strengthen ties with Brazil.
