On 23rd June 2026, the Embassy convened a virtual meeting between the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) of Brazil and the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) of Kenya. The Ag. Director General of EPRA, Dr. Eng. Joseph Oketch highlighted that these engagements reflected the strong commitment by both countries in deepening the Kenya-Brazil economic cooperation, particularly in the energy sector.
The meeting was a follow-up of the EPRA technical mission to Brazil that took place from 23rd to 27th March 2026. Notably, EPRA undertook an institutional visit to ANP in Rio de Janeiro, where discussions were initiated on the establishment of a collaborative partnership between the two regulatory agencies.
Kenya and Brazil share common priorities in strengthening regulatory frameworks, and advancing the development of the oil, natural gas, and biofuels. It is therefore envisaged that the partnership between EPRA and ANP will further enhance the bilateral sustainable energy cooperation under the broader framework of South-South Cooperation.
