H.E. Dr. Amb. Andrew Karanja Opens 5th Co-optrust Investments Services Limited Client Conference in Rio de Janeiro

H.E. Dr. Amb. Andrew Karanja, Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Brazil, officially opened the 5th Co-optrust Investments Services Limited (CISL) Client Conference on 2 June 2026 in Rio de Janeiro. Held under the theme “Sustainability and Diversification: Investing in Agri-Funds 2.0,” the conference, which runs from 1–6 June 2026, has brought together over 80 delegates, including pension trustees, institutional investors, regulators, and agribusiness experts to explore emerging opportunities in agricultural investment funds.

In his remarks, Ambassador Karanja commended CISL for convening the conference in Brazil, noting that the event provides a unique platform for Kenyan investors to learn from one of the world’s leading agricultural economies. He observed that the conference aligns with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which prioritizes agricultural transformation and seeks to channel long-term institutional capital into productive sectors that create jobs, enhance food security, and stimulate economic growth.

The conference featured presentations by Mr. Carlos Muller, General Coordinator of Investments and Cooperation at Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), and Mr. Davi Molinaro Feo of Feo Advogados. Discussions focused on Brazil’s FIAGRO framework—specialized agricultural investment funds that mobilize capital for agribusiness value chains—and the potential lessons and opportunities for Kenyan institutional investors seeking diversified and sustainable investment options.

Ambassador Karanja thanked the organizers for selecting Brazil as the venue for the conference and expressed appreciation to the presenters and participants for their commitment to advancing knowledge and partnerships in agribusiness investment. He wished delegates productive deliberations during the remaining conference sessions and success in identifying innovative investment opportunities that will strengthen agricultural development and economic cooperation between Kenya and Brazil.
