Team Kenya was officially welcomed at the Paralympic Village after the hoisting of the flag ceremony which was held on 3rd September, 2016. The Mayor of the Paralympic Village, former basketball player and two time Olympic medallist Janeth Arcain gave a speech about the importance of the Games for humanity.
Ambassador Isaac Ochieng and Chairman Council of People with Disability, Mr. David ole Sankok and top KNPC officials graced the event.The Kenya national flag was raised up as the national anthem played to officially welcome the team to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
A show of Brazilian rhythms greeted the delegation from Kenya. Later on Ambassador Isaac Ochieng had a meeting with the team and toured the Paralympic Village where Team Kenya has its office and accommodation.
